Haven't been on in a while. Not that I have been busy, just lazy with nothing to report.
On the plus side, I have been working a bit, which has been great. I go where the work is, and have found myself surrounded by children and laughing at their antics. A couple of weeks ago I ended up doing a school-age program with 30 children. Of which, 12 were in kindergarten. 23 were boys. gender "stereotypes" my ass. These boys were typical boys. Commonly heard phrases included: "hands are for helping not hurting," and "how can you be hungry? We just had lunch," and my personal favourite: "I am sorry, I can't get that dinosaur out of the tree. Why did you throw it in there?" I did have help, but the end of the day could not come soon enough!
In other news, I have also been supply teaching, which has been interesting. I have a couple of challenging days, and then a couple of good days, and that is all in the same week. Yesterday was about poop, blood and an end-of-the-day saliva war. Good times in grade 2. Saved me from eating my lunch, so I guess I saved some $ there.
The heat has been on here for about a month. Usually the cold one in the relationship, I have decided to reduce the temperature of the house and wear more sweaters in an effort to save a few dollars. My husband feels that having steam come off your body when you exit the shower means the house is too cold. So now the heat has been on since the beginning of September. We have also had to use the dryer lately, as the rain does not seem to stop. Our yard is so wet we have to use hip waders to play fetch with the dog, and she has to wear a lifejacket. Today is actually sunny, and tomorrow is Thanksgiving. What are my big plans? Dehydrating the apples the neighbour gave me and hanging laundry on the line!
Oh! The washing machine just dinged! Off I go!
